Disney Villain Countdown: 32/40

**Spoiler Alert! Some villains are revealed in plot twists, so if you haven't seen all the movies...**

Fear / Intimidation Factor
On par with Clayton: a burly-ish dude with a gun.  He's not as small-minded as Clayton, but he is very very greedy, to the point he's willing to wipe out an entire civilization.  Yeesh.

Character Design
I feel like I should have made the older burly guy character design a default score, since this is the most common Disney Villain stereotype.  I actually like Rourke's physical design even less than Clayton becasue of the strange blocky animation style of Atlantis.  He does not, however, have the bizarre hypnotic massive nostrils, so I guess it evens out.

Only James Garner could get away with this line and make it BAD. ASS.

Wit & Quotability
Here's where Rourke manages to make up some points ground; he's a pretty clever guy. He's another "hidden villain" a la Hans, but he is never sweet as pie even when he's not villainous, so when the "twist" comes it's plausible.  He also manages to find a few quote worthy lines to be delivered by the incomparable James Garner (may he rest in peace).

Memorability
Aaaaand our score goes right back down to the gutter. It's not really Rourke's fault; Atlantis is, as a whole, a rather forgettable film. It was Disney trying to be Titan AE, and failing.  The subject matter is very mature, but then it's still trying to be a kid's film.  I think kids would struggle to understand Rourke's motivations, especially with the rather flimsy overall development of Rourke's character arc (he's a military type merc for hire who is greedy for money, oh ok).

Sidekicks
Helga Sinclair (are you gagging on the name yet) is, predictably, an eastern european blond bombshell a la James Bond Villainess or even Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade.  She's utterly predictable, but she's not painful to watch, so the score stays middling.

Helga's too sexy for her dress strap

Song
Nope. This was Disney's "too cool for musicals" phase.
