Disney Villain Countdown: 16/40
**Spoiler Alert! Some villains are revealed in plot twists, so if you haven't seen all the movies...**
If you are an adult, then Syndrome is TERRIFYING, and for entirely different reasons than any other villain on this countdown. Not only is he this incredibly intelligent guy who's got all these inventions to make him comparable to a superhero, it's how he got to be a villain that's so terrifying. Syndrome starts out as a little boy who idolizes Mr. Incredible, when Mr. Incredible gives him the brush off, it shows Buddy that he can't rely on his heroes and sends him down the road toward villainy. See? One little brush off, and you were responsible for creating a villain who's killed dozens of your fellow superheroes. YIKES.
That chin... I can't get past that chin.
Wit & Quotability
The highest score yet in this countdown for this category. Jason Lee brings psychotic enthusiasm to every deliriously brilliant and profound thing that spews out of Syndrome's mouth. I'm still shuddering.
Syndrome has, as hinted at above, some of the best and richest writing of any Pixar villain. That terrifying aspect also makes him falter a bit when it comes to being an embraceable villain. He's almost... too sympathetic? Not unlike Lotso.
This is the weak score. Syndrome has a lady sidekick, but she's soooo.... not... anything. She neither adds nor detracts, she's just pretty. Meh.
When IS Pixar going to get around to doing a musical?
