The Sunday before Thanksgiving we made our first attempt to connect with characters for Project Thank You. I was armed with a stack of 4x6 prints, a bag of mini bows, and a touch of anxiety. What if we only had new people we hadn't met before? Well I'll get pictures of them to bring with us on our next visit. How would the cast react? How would D handle it? What if D refuses to hand over the gifts? MEEP. O_O
Our first character meeting of the day was Cinderella and Rapunzel.
After D met Cinderella, I crouched down next to her and handed her Rapunzel's gift. I'd briefly introduced the idea to Daphne of giving presents out today. She knows what presents are, and she acted excited about it. "Ok, peanut. Hand this to Rapunzel and say, "Merry Christmas, Rapunzel." She nodded seriously.
D got shy about talking, but she did hand the gift over right away. "Is this for me?" D nods. Rapunzel turned over the photo and read the message. "Oh my goodness, Thank you! This is my first Christmas gift this year! Oh, I can't wait to put it under the tree at home with Flynn!" I loved the look of surprise on Rapunzel's face. D did, too.
Round one successful, my confidence was boosted. Next stop: Storybook Circus. I really didn't know how Minnie would react... not being able to talk at all. I shouldn't have wondered, not for a second. Minnie flipped her lid she was so excited.
She made special hearts in the air, grasping the gift to her chest, she made a heart at me, too. She placed the gift carefully up on her display.
The great Goofini was also surprised by his gift, and happily displayed it on his backdrop.
And then... there was Tiana. D walked up, and handed over the gift, with a quiet "Mewwy cwissmiss, tyahnah." Y'all, if I had any doubts about how this project would go over with the cast, she completely bulldozed over them.
"Oh my gosh, my baby's all grown! I totally remember you guys! Ohhh, I can't wait to put this in my scrapbook!" Oh Tiana, We love you, too.
