Quality of Character
I may be biased here, but I’m just going to say it: I do NOT like Wendy. She’s bossy, snobby, holier-than-thou, and pretty self-absorbed. Then she plays it all innocent, and maybe it’s just because I know a lot of women like this, but it makes me NUTS. Just think about her behavior at Tiger Lily’s camp when Peter Pan doesn’t pay her enough attention. Then her little tantrum when she stomps off gets her captured. At least there were consequences for her bad decisions. (If you’re wondering, Ariel is the only DH that scores lower than Wendy in this category).
Overall Film Quality
Peter Pan holds up very well to adult viewing, more so than many of its contemporaries. The opening line inspired my favorite television show (BSG, ok, yes, bias), there are some really great lines especially from Captain Hook, and there’s a very realistic view of the cattiness between females. Ok, I’m not sure if that last part should be a positive.
Peter Pan is a selfish egomaniac. There’s a reason there’s a complex named after him. He flies Wendy around Neverland, then ignores her so he can get attention washed over him. Peter Pan ties for the lowest LI score on this list.
Captain Hook is the largest reason for a decent score in this category. He is a WONDERFUL villain. Wendy’s brothers are actually pretty great, too. Way more likeable than Wendy.
Solid, but will forever be overshadowed for me by the music from the Mary Martin Musical, which I watched just as many times as the Disney version.
It’s a girly nightgown. She’s got a pretty great hair do, especially for somebody who supposedly was about to go to sleep, but like Alice, there’s no sparkle or flair.
