Disney Villain Countdown: 24/40
**Spoiler Alert! Some villains are revealed in plot twists, so if you haven't seen all the movies...**
Although definitely creepy in appearance (those teeth... DAFUQ?), Bowler Hat Guy sets himself up very early on for being much more funny than scary. He's mostly an idiot, in fact, so this score is not high.
Although no other Disney Villain looks like Bowler Hat Guy, Bowler Hat Guy's design is derivative. It's the silent movie villain tying a damsel to a train track. This isn't a super low score (that mustache, those eyebrows...), but there were opportunities to make this score higher (the onesie and leggings??) that weren't seized upon.
Wit & Quotability
A great score. The bizarre genius that comes out of this guy's mouth made me pause the movie several times, because I was laughing so hard. Bravo, Bowler Hat Guy, you were the best part of Meet the Robinsons.
Solid score, though not the highest. Finding out Bowler Hat Guy's backstory and how he became the way he is really helps him stand out and adds to the impressive heart of the story in Meet the Robinsons. The tricky point with BHG, just as with the movie as a whole, is that sometimes the seemingly nonsensical crazy (though funny) really counteracts our ability to connect with the character (or plot). He also suffers from Horned King Syndrome (nobody knows who this guy is).
Doris... the HAT... is BHG's primary sidekick, and she doesn't add much. Not her fault I guess, she can't really talk. I don't know if I can really count any of the other side characters accidentally drawn into BHG's plot (precious TREX!!) in this category... in the end the score ends up a little above neutral.
