Disney Villain Countdown: 9/40
**Spoiler Alert! Some villains are revealed in plot twists, so if you haven't seen all the movies...**
Although Scar acknowledges that when it comes to "brute strength" he comes from the "shallow end of the gene pool," he more than makes up for it with his sinister schemes. The dude is willing to commit fratricide in the name of ascending to the throne, and... nephew-cide (shut up, it's a word... maybe), too. He's also clever enough to get away with it for years, and pulls an entire race of animals into his ascension. Dude is E-VIL.
Scar's a lion... with a scar... over his eye. We know he's a villain, because his hair is black. Mehhhh.
Wit & Quotability
Scar's ego allows for him to deliver some truly perfect villainous one-liners. Voiced by Jeremy Iron. What more could you possibly ask for?
Scar may not have been a particularly successful Lion King (ohhh see what I did there??), but he reigns supreme over the Disney Cat Villains. Hamlet rip off? Fie! The Lion King is a crown jewel of Disney's Renaissance, and it's largely thanks to this standout kitty.
Banzai, Shanzi, and Ed are one of the strongest arguments for having sidekicks count toward this score. The way these hyenas play off each other and serve as the perfect idiot foil for Scar is pure magic.
Behold! The second best villain song in Disney history! The Lion King is seriously top notch all around when it comes to music, and Be Prepared is no exception. Jeremy Irons was born to voice a villain. The arrangement is SO powerful, the animation is evocative of the third reich, it's MIND-BLOWING. In justice deliciously squared, Scar sings his way into the top 10.
