In Which My Child Accomplishes Amazing Feats of Cognitive and Motor Development...

This unplanned post is brought to you by the incredible show my daughter put on before bath time tonight.

First, we did what we normally do when she starts getting cranky before bath time: put on Yo Gabba Gabba.  Initially, as expected, she entered the YGG Hypnosis curled up on my chest.  Then Daddy came home mid-episode and the spell was broken, so she started walking around while watching.  The Dress Up episode has a song called "Funny Hat" (you can guess the subject matter).  Well, that song came on and Daphne was IN IT.  She started waving her hands around and bouncing along.  I might have even seen some twerking against her activity table.  Of course, by the time I grabbed the camera it was over.  You're going to have to take my word on it.

After YGG time we got ready for the bath.  Ian's been working late a lot this week so this was his first bath time in a while.  Daphne has developed a need to try to unravel the TP roll while we wait for the tub to fill.  When I try to stop her, she screams at me. In an attempt to channel this into something less destructive, I started tearing off individual squares of TP, then asking her "Where does this go?" and putting it into the toilet.  I handed her a square and she did indeed put it into the toilet.  Alright, kid, good job.  Tonight, with both parents in the bathroom, it was a bit more crowded: Ian was sitting on the toilet.  When Daphne started in on the TP roll, she had nowhere to go with it.  We watched her grab some TP and walk over to the cabinet under the sink.  She yanked the door open and tossed the TP into the garbage can, closing the cabinet behind her.  "Alright, kid! Good job, you put it in the garbage!" Ian cheered.  My jaw was wide open.  "Did you show her how to do that?" I shook my head.  Other than occasionally tossing a diaper into that garbage, we've had no real interaction with the can under the sink, and the cabinet was closed the whole time we were in there that night.  While we continued to give each other the side-eye, Daphne trotted back over the the roll, stole a few more squares, and marched right back over to the cabinet to plop the TP into the garbage can AGAIN.  She did it two more times before we finally stopped her and plopped her in the bath.

HOW DID SHE DO THAT? *blink blink blink*  I neglected to get this on photo or video so, once again, you'll have to take my word on it.
